Chillas: In an apparently coordinated and timed attack some unidentified miscreants have ransacked and torched as many as a dozen schools in Chillas, Darel and Tangir Areas of Diamer District in Gilgit Baltistan in the wee hours of Friday, the Gilgit Baltistan Police reported.
None of the unidentified terrorist who were at large after committing the heinous crime has been arrested.
According to the local media, most of the schools were built to promote girls education in the most illiterate district of GB.
Law Enforcement agencies are conducting search operations in the wake of the event.
According to the Police, two of the schools were dynamited while others were set ablaze and damaged.
Inspector General Police Gilgit Baltistan, Commissioner Diamer and Forces Commander Major General Saqib Mehmod visited the destroyed schools to ascertain the impact of damages. The trio while expressing grief and anger vowed to arrest the perpetrators involved in the crime and bring them to justice .

They said that the terrorists have damaged under construction schools and they will have to face consequences of their heinous offence.
Some of the dismantled schools were built by Pakistan Army to promote education in the district as Diamer has lowest literacy rate in the entire GB region.
The unidentified extremists also damaged under construction schools, said the Police.
The targeted schools include Girls Primary School located in Ronai/Chilas, Armey Public School in Darel, Girls Primary School Takia/Chilas, Girls Primary School Galee Bala/Tangir, Girls Primary School Sheegay Manikal/Darel, Army Public School Tangir, SAP Primary School Tabor/Darel, Primary School Dabor, SAP Primary School Hudur and others.
Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Hassan Askari condemned the attack and said, “The terrorist will never be successful in their vicious designs to prevent the daughters of nation from getting education.
