Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk on Friday strongly condemned suicide attack on JUI-F leader Akram Khan Durrani convoy in Bannu.
At least four people were killed and many other injured in the suicide blast. The attack took place when Durrani was on the way to address a corner meeting.
The caretaker Prime Minister said the anti-state elements will never be succeeded in fulfilling their dream.
He also expressed sympathy with the victims’ families. He said the martyred blood will go waste, adding the victims’ families keep their moral high, few people can never damage this nation’s wishes.
The caretaker prime minister said the nation has been fighting against terrorism with courage and bravery for the past couple of years and law enforcement agencies and security officials are putting their best efforts to sabotage the malicious design of anti-state elements.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Azam Khan said ANP leader Haroon Bilour was invited for tea in a corner meeting and when he reached the place fire work was in progress. As he joined his party worker an attacker detonated his suicide jacket.
The interior minister said as many as 21 people were killed and 75 other injured in the attack. Khan said that Haroon security guard was also killed in the attack.
The interior minister said NACTA has warned that some political parties’ leaders’ lives are at risk and they can be attacked during elections campaign.
Azam Khan said some anti-state elements want to disrupt the election process but the government is taking all possible measures to meet his commitment of free and fair elections.
