Islamabad: The Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances has disposed 3331 out to total 5177 cases up to May 31, 2018 with the personal efforts of its president Justice Javed Iqbal says a press release issued here on Thursday.

“A total of 5091 cases received up to 30th April 2018 to Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, Islamabad. During May 2018, 86 more cases were received to Commission and now the total numbers of the cases are 5177”, the statement said.

It is important to note here that the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, Islamabad during the month of May 2018 disposed of 62 cases and the balance numbers of cases are 1846 on May 2018.

The Commission has conducted 204 hearings in Islamabad, 169 in Karachi, 73 in Lahore and 91 were held in Quetta during May 2018. As per sources, Honorable Justice Mr. Javed Iqbal has been lauded for his exceptional performance as president of the National Commission for Enforced Disappearances. Due to the NAB chief’s personal interest and efforts, the commission has recovered more than 3331 missing persons, besides ensuring their safe return to their homes, according to sources.

The Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan has also referred more than 300 cases of missing persons to the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances for their recovery. And being president of the Abbottabad Inquiry Commission, he returned Rs. 61 lacs to the Government and did not take a single penny for conducting a probe into the national tragedy. He also does not receive any salary while working as President of Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances.
