London: Voicing its serious concern over the continued bloodbath in Indian occupied Kashmir the Kashmir Voice International during a meeting here on Wednesday said that the international community must shun its policy of indifference towards unending sufferings of Kashmiris and play its much needed role to settle the dispute peacefully.

“Kashmir Diaspora community is highly pained to watch the continued killings in the valley at the hands of unbridled forces, all guns should silence in Kashmir to give a stop to the loss of precious lives. There is no alternative to a peaceful and negotiated settlement of the issue for which a political process should be started”, the KVI chairman Prof. M.A.Raina said in the meeting which was attended by other office bearers of the organization.

He said that the indifference shown by the world powers to what happens in Kashmir was highly disappointing. “The right thinking people in India expected to stand against the indiscriminate use of force resulting into the killings of innocent civilians have also maintained silence”, he said adding that the policy of seeking a military solution through repression and killings adopted by Delhi and closing the doors for any talks has frustrated our youth forcing them to take up guns.

Terming the prevailing situation in the restive region as highly alarming he said that highly qualified youth joining militancy speaks volumes about the degree of frustration among Kashmir’s young generation.

“Delaying the political initiative is worsening the situation and results into the continued loss of lives. Kashmiris have already lost more than hundred thousand people, how many more need be killed to make the number enough”, Rain added.

“Delhi has to recognize that the policy of repression and killings is unlikely to bring peace to the valley. Thirty years’ experience bears witness to this fact. It has to come to the terms with the aspirations of Kashmiris. The sooner this reality is accepted and followed by a serious initiative to find an acceptable solution, the better for all stake holders”, the statement said.

KVI secretary Javid Kakroo said that Pakistan being a party to the dispute should contribute to the peace initiatives for the resolution of the problem. “KVI condemns the killing of a tourist in Kashmir at the hands of some unruly youth. KVI believes that all tourists are the guests of Kashmir, deserve respect and security as such”, Kakroo said.
