Islamabad: Former Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan on Saturday clarified that he has no plan to leave the party and confirmed would remain a part of PML-N.
He said that during high and low tides, he remained faithful to the party, adding that he had no grievances with the party. “I have no demands and never asked for any post from party,” he added. While addressing a Press Conference, disgruntled leader of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) said that he is not the one who takes orders. Nisar said that he was not the one who makes groups and he wasn’t part of any independent group. “I do politics according to my own wishes,” he said.
The former minister said that he is the founding member of the ruling party, adding that not a single founding member is in party now. “If I were upset with the party then, at the time of Sharif’s disqualification, I could have very easily taken out 40-45 MNAs, But I did not because I have never played this game in my life. I am not a conspirator.
“Numerous MNAs came to me and they still, do but I always tell them to articulate their own views but remain in the party. “In every legislative move, I always voted for the government,” Nisar continued. “When the time came for Mian Nawaz Sharif’s election, I voted in his favour. If I were so upset with him, would I have done that?
More than 70 percent people have left the party, he said. I asked former prime minister Nawaz Sharif not to approach Supreme Court (SC) following the Panama Papers scandal, Nisar said and added he was the only one who stopped PML-N supremo when he decided to address the nation.
Nisar went on to say that he asked the ex-PM to ask Army Chief that a Brigadier of the army shouldn’t be the Joint Investigation Team (JIT). “I and Nawaz Sharif held a long meeting at Punjab House following the Supreme Court’s verdict of disqualifying him and told him to focus on 2018 general elections,” he said.
The former minister said that he urged the PML-N supremo to soften his tone towards judiciary and army, adding that he said these things in Nawaz’s interest.
I always supported Nawaz whenever there were civil-military issues, he said and added he has been loyal to former premier for the last 34 years.
Nisar didn’t forget to thank Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan and other party leaders for offering him to join party. He said that he had reservations over the PML-N’s choice of candidates, but he still went and voted for them.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar, dismissing rumours of parting ways with the ruling party, confirmed on Saturday that he would remain a part of PML-N.
“Had I been disgruntled with Nawaz then would I have voted for him. I am still standing with the party but not with the party where there is no freedom of expression,” Nisar clarified. “I’ve been with Nawaz for over 34 years now, and was a founding member of the party,” he added. “I’m the only founding member left.”
Referring to the JIT formed to probe the allegations against the Sharif family after the Panama papers scandal, Nisar said that he had advised the then-prime minister Nawaz to request the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) to retract army officers and intelligentia from the team formed.
“However, Nawaz paid no heed to it.” “I said that of one court does not give you justice then other will. I can be wrong when I advised but it cannot be termed ill-intentions. I told everyone who had left the party and came to me to remain in the party,” Nisar further told a room of media personnel.
