Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed interior minister Ahsan Iqbal to appear in person on 7th May while issuing the contempt of court notice to him for allegedly delivering anti judiciary speeches.
Court has expressed annoyance over airing of wrong news of imposition of ban on the speeches of former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz and summoned report from Chairman Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on this count.

As per media reports, Advocate Azhar Siddique filed a petition in LHC against Federal Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on account of contempt of court during the course of hearing of the case regarding the anti-judiciary speeches by former PM Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday.
The stance has been taken in the petition that the speeches of Ahsan Iqbal also come in the category of contempt of court. Court issued a notice to Ahsan Iqbal and directed him to appear in person before it on 7th May.
Court expressed annoyance on airing the wrong news of ban on the speeches of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz and inquired chairman PEMRA how this wrong news ran .
Chairman PEMRA told the court that notice has been issued to the channels which have broadcast this wrong news.
