ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed petition filed against appointment of Kashmala Tariq as Ombudman person for women declaring it non maintainable.

A single bench of IHC led by Justice Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb Friday took up for hearing petition filed against appointment of Kashmala Tariq.

Roy Qaisar Abbas advocate appeared in the court to persuade the petition.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb inquired “ have you conducted research before appointment of Kashmala Tariq as Ombudsman person for women. Legal point be told to court against the appointment.

Roy Qaisar Abbas advocate said condition of retired judge or senior lawyer is must for appointment of ombudsman as per constriction. Kashmala Tariq neither has any experience of legal practice nor is she a retired judge.

He further argued Kashmala Tariq has rendered no services for the women rights in the past. Therefore, notification regarding her appointment as ombudsman person for women be nullified, he prayed.
Secretary to president, deputy secretary ministry of law and justice, secretary Wafaqi Mohtasib secretariat and Kashmala Tariq have been made respondents in the case.
The court rejected the petition while declaring it non maintainable.
