Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director Jamshed and Ali Imran has given free hand to some 300 housing societies located in surrounding areas of city of looting and plunder as these societies were making money through illegal practices.

These societies have neither required land nor follow the criteria. Various societies are receiving down payments from citizens besides monthly installments. These societies are located in areas including Charkri road, Adiala road, Girja road, Dhamial road, Fateh Jang, New Airport road, Taxila, Tarnol, Peshawar road, Kotha kalan, Lukhan, G.T road, Chakra road, Chak Beli Khan road, Gujar Khan, Mandra, Chakwal road, Murree, Motoway link road, Kotli Sattian and Airport Link road.

For registration, concerned senior clerk and Inspector are demanding some Rs 5 million on the name of DG, RDA from each housing society.

When “Online” contacted to Hafiz Irfan, spokesperson of RDA, he categorically rejected that RDA has not sent any illegal housing society to Commissioner Rawalpindi for approval adding that RDA is bound to implement on rules and regulations for the approval of any housing society to protect citizens from any financial fraud.
“The RDA has sent final notices to owners of 31 illegal and unapproved housing societies located in its premises and after this legal action is being taken against them”, spokesperson added. Director Metropolitan and Traffic Engineering Jamshed Aftab said that no illegal housing society has been sent to Commissioner Rawalpindi for approval. It is worth mentioned here that dozens of applications were filed in Anti Corruption Department and FIA against this mafia but all the concerned departments are silent.
