MIRPUR (AJK): Under the spirit to raise awareness among all the stake holders including diverse segments of the civil society, the state-run Climate Change Center (CCC) of AJK is holding a day-long consultative workshop on Climate Change Strategy and Action Plans for AJK here on February 22 – Thursday(today), it was officially declared.

Mirpur Division Deputy Director Environmental Protect Agency (EPA) of AJK govt, Sardar Idrees Mehmood, while unveiling the salient features of the scheduled workshop, told reporters here Wednesday that the CCC has developed drafts of the Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation Strategies and Action Plans for Azad Jammu & Kashmir after the formal approve of AJK Climate Change policy by the AJK Cabinet.

The scheduled workshop will particularly be for all the stake holders of Mirpur division, he underlined.

The AJK-govt. controlled Climate Change Center (CCC) has been functioning at Planning & Development Department of the State Government with the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank under Flood Emergency Reconstruction and Resilience Project.

Environmental experts including Director General CCC Dr. Raja Aurangzeb Khan, Deputy Director Sardar Muhammad Rafique, Climate Change specialist Tayyeb Shehzad, Deputy Director EPA Mirpur division Sardar Idrees Mahmood, President Environmental Lawyers Forum Mirpur Khalid Yousaf Advocate, President Environmental Journalist Forum Altaf Hamid Rao, Station Director AK Radio Mirpur Muhammad Shakeel, head of news section AK Radio Ali Akhter Salim, seasoned academician from MUST Varsity Dr. Shujat Hussain and others will speak in the workshop on the respective responsibilities of the stake holders viz a viz climate change strategy and the action plans for AJK.
