“PM says finality in prophet-hood is an integral part of our faith”

Muzaffarabad: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly session was held under the chairmanship of Speaker Shah Ghulam Qadir here on Friday.

At the beginning of the assembly session the Speaker Legislative Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir announced a three-member panel of chairmen comprising of Chaudhry Masood Khalid, Raja Mohammad Siddiq Khan and Ms. Riffat Aziz for conducting house proceedings.

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs AJK Raja Nisar Ahmad Khan presented the law draft of the Azad Jammu & Kashmir Interim Constitution (Twelfth Amendment) Act, 2018, which was unanimously passed by the house.

Speaking on the draft law, Prime Minister AJK Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan said that belief in finality of Prophethood of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) is integral part of our faith saying that further discussion on the draft law will be discussed in the joint session of the assembly, including scholars, technocrats and other religious leaders.

During the session special supplications were offered for the Ex- MLAs Late Major Muhammad Ayub Khan, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan and others who played key role in the adoption of the resolution regarding the finality of prophet-hood of Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) in the legislature way back in 1973.

Former Prime Minister AJK Sardar Ateeq Ahmed Khan greeted the Prime Minister and other MLAs for bringing this bill on Assembly forum. He said, “Opposition parties should be taken on board regarding discussion on this bill for further consideration, so that we can have the honor of this joint effort”.

Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs Raja Nisar Ahmad Khan said that under this draft law, one who does not believe in the finality of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) will not be considered as Muslim. “It is also a part of our faith. I congratulate all the members of the assembly on the occasion of bringing this bill”, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for State for Public Works Chaudhry Mohammad Aziz said that hats off to all those members who worked on this bill. “Our firm faith in the finality of the Prophet-hood of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is a great blessing for all of us”, he said. “We are glad to have this bill presented for the approval in the House,” said Pir Syed Ali Raza Bukhari saying that it was the prime responsibility of lawmakers to make Islamic law in “the Islamic State”.

Members Assembly Abdur Rasheed Turrabi, Ahmed Raza Qadri, Raja Muhammad Siddique Khan, Malik Muhammad Nawaz and Abdul Majid Khan also congratulated the Prime Minister and Minister for Law for bringing this bill on the floor of Assembly besides paying eulogizing tributes to late MLAs who passed this resolution in 1973.
