Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan has said that the people of the liberated territory have offered unprecedented sacrifices for the socio-economic development and prosperity of Pakistan.

The AJK Premier made these assertions while talking to members of high level delegation of Kohala Jehlum Project who called on him here on Friday. Senior Member Board of Revenue Fayaz Ali Abbasi, Principle Secretary to PM Ehasan Khalid Kian, Chief Executive Kohala Jehlum Project Ziang Jong, Deputy General Manager Yuongbu, Colonel ® Ali Shan, General Manager Land Requisition and other officials were present on the occasion. The visiting delegation briefed the PM about the progress and pace of work on the mega project.

Speaking on the occasion the AJK PM said that the incumbent government was accountable and answerable to the masses. “We don’t believe in false promises and we don’t want any injustices committed against any person”, he said adding that people of Azad Kashmir have rendered matchless sacrifices for the socio-economic progress and prosperity of Pakistan. Referring to Neelum, Jehlum and Kohala-Jehlum Power projects the AJK PM said, “With a view to bring an immediate end to energy crisis in Pakistan people of the AJK offered sacrifices of their ancestors’ land wholeheartedly and did not even cared for ecological impacts of these projects on the region”.

“Neelum-Jhelum is a 400 billion power project but so far only 1.5 billion rupee has been spent for the land acquisition purpose”, he said adding that owing to the supreme sacrifices of the people there was a dire need that educated and unemployed youth of the region should be adjusted on all non-technical posts in these projects. “Whatever the reservations and legal demands of the local people have must be addressed without any further delay”, the PM said adding that the PML-N government has chalked out a comprehensive long-term policy for the economic prosperity of the country. Terming CPEC as the essential component of the government’s long-term policy he said that some elements were hell bent on to create hurdles in the implementation of the mega project by fomenting political instability in Pakistan.
