ISLAMABAD: Biometric verification process has been launched from January 01 for Umrah pilgrims and other Pakistanis aspiring to travel to Saudi Arab as Saudi government has made this verification mandatory.

Sources said last year Pakistani pilgrims were exempted from biometric verification but this year all those persons who intend to travel to Saudi Arabia will have to undergo this verification process compulsorily.

Sources told Online that directives on this count have been issued to the respective company. This step has been taken by Saudi government for security and provision of better services to the citizens of other countries during travelling to Saudi Arabia.

Sources further said that it will be compulsory for all the persons who travel from other countries to Saudi Arabia to abide by Saudi laws. Saudi government respects the guests who come from other countries but they will have to respect Saudi laws in connection with performance of Umrah and Hajj.

Saudi government had postponed the process of biometric verification twice during the last few months due to poor arrangements of the respective company Aitmad. In current month the verification has been made compulsory on the assurance of concerned company.
