‘Will try to meet expectations that’ve been set for me’: Shoukat Mehmood’

Islamabad: (Parliament Times) The President of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) Afzal Butt while terming RIBJA as a strong and proactive journalists’ body has said that the organization has always played the role of PFUJI’s vanguard to seek solution to the problems faced by the journalist community.
Bhat said this while addressing the newly elected office bearers of RIBJA here on Friday. Pertinently during the recent annual elections of the Rawalpindi Islamabad Bureaus Journalist Association (RIBJA) the Progressive Panel has won the elections with thumping majority against Journalist Panel. Sardar Shoukat Mehmood was elected president whereas Nisar Ahmed was elected as the secretary general of the RIBJA.
Speaking on the occasion Bhat said that the newly elected president Sardar Shoukat Mehmood is an experienced, proactive and dedicated trade unionist. Referring to Mehmood’s victory in the lections the PFUJI president said that it was a good omen and highly encouraging for entire journalist fraternity. He said that concerted and unified efforts were needed to move forward positively to resolve problems faced by the journalists all across the country.Speaking on the occasion, the RIBJA’s newly elected president Sardar Shoukat Mehmood said that he would try his level best to meet the expectations of all those who have voted in his favour and expressed their confidence in his leadership. He said that all out efforts would be made to further strengthen the organization (RIBJA) at all levels. Mehmood said that the PFUJ President Afzal Bhat and his colleagues have rendered great services for the welfare of journalist community.
Meanwhile, founder president RIBJA, Quraban Satti, former president RIBJA and deputy secretary general All Kashmir News Papers Society (AKNS) Mr. Javed Iqbal, former president RIBJA Sardar Abdul Hameed and others have extended their heartfelt felicitations to the newly elected officer bearers of Rawalpindi Islamabad Bureaus Journalist Association.
