ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) The Executive Board of National Accountability Bureau approved conducting eight inquiries and two investigations. The Executive Board meeting chaired by NAB chairman Justice Javed Iqbal at NAB Headquarters and following decisions were taken.
THE EBM approved the first inquiry to probe alleged corruption and officers of civil aviation in the alleged corruption of billion of rupees and misuse of authority in awarding contracts in construction of passenger terminal building Special baggage handling system in the construction of new Islamabad Airport.
After scrutinizing evince, the Executive Board approved the Inquiry against 56 illegal public limited companies for squandering billion of rupees of Punjab government and violation of PPRA rules. The executive board has also accorded approval to conduct Inquiry against civil aviation for inflicting 500 million losses by selling PIA plane by German CEO of PIA.
An inquiry has also been approved against HBL Branch New York USA and HBL Head office due to involvement in money laundering. The bank has recently been fined 225 million dollars for involvement in money laundering by US.
The board has approved inquiry against Irshad Ahmed Memon Chief Engineer Irrigation department Sukkar for inflicting millions of losses to national exchequer.
Another inquiry would also be conducted against Dr Parveen Naeem Shah, Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University, khairpur for having assets beyond resources of Income.
The Executive Board also accorded approval to North Sindh Urbon Corp. District Larkana Khairpur. Sindh and others for inflicting 190 million rupees losses to the national exchequer.
The Executive Board approved inquiry against Metro Bus Project, Multan. In this case, it is alleged that millions of govt funds were utilized illegally against PEPRA Rules.
The Executive Board decided to bring back Ishaq Dar through INTERPOL assistance as he does not have any medical condition that cannot be treated in Pakistan. Moreover, Accountability Court has currently declared Mr. Dar as Proclaimed Offender for failing to appear in the Accountability Court.
