Islamabad: (PR) As many as 362 students graduated at the 6th Undergraduate & Postgraduate Convocation of NUST School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, held here on Thursday. The chief guest, Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) EngrJawed SalimQureshi,awarded degrees to graduates of Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering,and Geographical Information Systems; Master of Engineering in Structural Engineering,Water Resources Engineering & Management, Geotech Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management,Transportation Engineering, Urban & Regional Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering,and Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System; and PhD in Environmental Engineering, PhD in Environmental Science and PhD in RS & GIS.

Chairman PEC felicitated the graduates on successfully completing their degrees from Pakistan’s No 1 Engineering & Technology university.Consequent upon it, he maintained, they would have to take upon themselves the added responsibility of serving the masses, as their services would be essentially needed to execute innovative and sustainable projects to address current and impending food, water & energy security issues. Earlier, Lt Gen Naweed Zaman, HI, (M), (Retd) expressed his gratitude to the chief guest for his presence. He congratulated the graduates on their achievements and bestowed upon them a few life lessons.

President’s Gold Medal was awarded to Fahim Ullah& Muhammad Umer Farooq of MS Construction Engineering & Management, Hasan Raza of MS Urban & Regional Planning,Fazal Haqof MS Transportation Engineering, Anza Javaid of MS Environmental Science, Khadija Noor & Rabia Shoukat of MS Environmental Engineering and Muhammad Faisal Arif of MS Water Resource Engineering & Management.

In the Bachelor’s programs, President’s Gold Medal for Best in Academics was awarded to KishmalaImtiaz of Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Khadija Javed of Bachelor of Environmental Engineering, Hassam Ali of Bachelor of Geoinformatics Engineering. Whereas, Rector’s Gold Medal for Best Final Year Project was awarded to Habib Murtaza of Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Khadija Javed of Bachelor of Environmental Engineering and Fareed-ud-Din-Masood of Bachelor of Geoinformatics Engineering.
