Mirpur: (Parliament Times) Secretary Information and Tourism government of Azad Kashmir Mansoor Qadir Dar has said that the many steps were being taken to boost up the tourism industry in the region that included the setting up of information booths and digital screens at all entry points of Azad Kashmir.
“Besides setting up information booths, digital screens will be installed at all entry points whereby tourists could be able to seek instant first hand information and knowledge about the scenic sites, historical places and monuments scattered throughout the region”, Dar said adding that for tourists the relevant information would be also available on the website. To facilitate tourists he said that the government was also planning to issue smart cards to visitors. “Since AJK has great potential in tourism sector and efforts are under way to explore and exploit this potential for the larger interests of people in the region”, Dar said adding that Mongala Dam would be made a hub for tourists. He said that the historical Ramkot Fort in Mirpur would be thrown open for tourists and a road to access the Fort will be constructed from Dhan Gali soon.
Dar who was on his visit to the Lake view city of Mirpur said that on the directives of incumbent government Kashmir Museum would be constructed in Muzaffarabad for the protection of rich cultural heritage of Kashmir. He said that the rest houses were being given on lease with a view to engage and involve the youth in the process of promoting tourism sector. He said that the efforts were under way to protect the ancient heritage.
