ISLAMABAD: China has said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is an open initiative and Beijing is ready to explore possibilities of the participation of more countries in its construction.

In a regular press briefing, Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman Geng Shuang said Port Qasim coal-fired power station is the first project involving a third party under CPEC.

The Spokesman said Port Qasim power project, completed under CPEC, will play an active role in alleviating energy shortage in Pakistan.

Port Qasim Power Plant is being jointly developed by the Power China Resources Limited and Qatar’s Al-Mirqab Capital with a total investment of over two billion dollars.
