MIRPUR (AJK): Mirpur city of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Friday banged with various anti-India rallies and procession taken out by all segments of the civil society from different parts of the city to mark protest against continued illegal Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir .

All the black day processions later converged into a mammoth protest rally at Shaheed chowk where speakers reiterated the pledge that the people of Jammu & Kashmir would never accept the illegal occupation of their motherland by India. The black day program was managed by National Events Organizing Committee Mirpur district comprising various private and public representative organizations, social and political parties, journalists organizations, District Bar Association, AJK Supreme Court Bar Association and others. Chairman National Events Organizing Committee Ansar Yaqoob Chaired the black day rally held to mark black day against the continued forcible and illegal occupation of Jammu & Kashmir since last 70 years since this day October 27, 1947. Senior officials of Mirpur division and district administration including DC Ansar Yaqoob, SSP Raja Irfan Salim, ADC (G) Raja Farooq Akram, and the heads and subordinates of various private and public sector nation building institutions and others officials also participated in the rally to mark protest against the continued forced Indian occupation of bulk of Jammu Kashmir state.

Wearing black bands and holding black flags hundreds of people from all walks of life including social and political workers, members of the business community, lawyers, journalists, employees of government and non-government organization, NGOs, students, teachers, human rights activists thronged the streets this morning to join the protest rally to mark the black day being observed throughout AJK & occupied Kashmir and rest of the world. Speaking on this occasion, Secretary General AJK Supreme Court Bar Association Mian Sultan Mahmood Advocate, President District Bar Association Shabir Sharif Advocate, Zia Minhas of Government non Gazetted Employees Organization, Student leader Saqib Ahmed, Secretary General NEOC A.H.Rao, Secretary General APCA AJK Raja Rasheed, Muslim Conference leader Shakoor Mughal and others strongly condemned the continued forcible occupation of bulk of Jammu and Kashmir by India at the might of her occupying eight lakh military and para-military troops in the Indian held Himalayan state.

They said that by observing October 27 as black day the people of Jammu & Kashmir reiterated to the international community of their complete dissociation and hatred against the Indian occupation. Speakers recalled that this day 70 years ago in 1947, India occupied the state of Jammu & Kashmir by forcibly landing her troops at Srinagar airport against the aspirations of the people of the state and thereby violation all international norms and commitments. “Since then, Indian troops have turned the paradise on the earth into a hell by unleashing the bloodshed of over five hundred thousand innocent people of the state”, they pointed out. Speakers continued that the people of Jammu & Kashmir rendered massive sacrifices for a sacred cause and will continue the same spirit with high moral till their freedom struggle reached to its logical end. He vehemently condemned the massive human rights abuses committed by the Indian occupying forces in held Kashmir. They called upon India to show realistic approach towards the early peaceful resolution of Kashmir conflict to ensure emergence of everlasting and durable peace in South Asia. They urged India to immediate withdraw her troops from occupied Jammu & Kashmir to pave the way for holding of the plebiscite in the State under the auspices of the United Nations for settlement of Kashmir dispute.

“It is the long cherished demand of the Kashmiris that they should be granted their birth right to decide about their future under the spirit of the internationally-acknowledged U.N resolutions”, they said.

Speakers urged upon the world community to take immediate notice of the continued hostile attitude of India trying to escape from the peaceful solution of Kashmir dispute through her traditional aggressive posture in form of the ongoing unprovoked firing and violations of the ceasefire on the LoC and the Working Boundary. They called upon the major global powers to compel India to ensure the objective dialogue with Pakistan for early peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue besides all other bilateral differences without further delay.
