Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government has provided development funds to the tune of billions of rupees for the development and prosperity of the southern Punjab and added that every district of southern Punjab has been included in the journey of development on priority basis.
The PML-N government has returned the rights of the people of southern Punjab by providing resources worth billions of rupees generously. He said that solar energy plant of 400 megawatt has been established at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park in Bahawalpur and a Turkish company is also setting up 300 megawatt solar project with a tariff of six cents per unit. It will be the cheapest solar tariff in the history of the country to provide low-priced electricity to the people. He said that a number of energy projects have been completed in a record period of time and the clouds of darkness will disappear at the end of the current year. On the other side, the billions rupees of the poor nation have been saved by ensuring transparency, quality and speed.
He said the Punjab government has spread a network of carpeted roads in villages through Khadim-e-Punjab Rural Roads Programme and this is, by far, the largest programme of construction of rural roads in the history of the country. He said that a sum of Rs.90 billion is being spent on ‘Pakkian Sarkan Sukhay Panday programme’ by the Punjab government and overall infrastructure has been improved by spending billions of rupees.
He said the prosperity of the people of southern Punjab is very dear to him. He said that safe city project will be started from Bahawalpur also and every possible resource will be provided for the development of Bahawalpur division. He said that wrong priorities of the former rulers have brought troubles for the nation. The negative political forces opposing the development projects cannot obstruct the progress of the country and we shall go to all extent for the completion of projects aiming at development and prosperity of the country.
The Chief Minister expressed these views while talking to MNA Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar who called on him, here today. During the meeting, progress on different development schemes pertaining to the progress and welfare of southern Punjab, especially the Bahawalpur division, came under discussion.
