Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) Denouncing the vilification campaign launched against the University of Azad Kashmir under the pretext of “student blackmailing”, a spokesman of the AJK University has said that certain elements with vested interests were hell bent on to tarnish the image of the prestigious institution.

In a statement issued here the other day the spokesman said, “Under the garb of blackmailing of a female University student of the department of Electrical Engineering, a false and fabricated propaganda campaign has been going on unabated over the past several days which is totally baseless and against the ground realities”.

“These elements for their own vested interests have been defaming the University”, the spokesman said adding that after holding an investigation into the matter strict legal action, as per the law of land, would be initiated against such elements. The spokesman while responding to reporter’s queries said that a complaint which was lodged against a teacher regarding the marking of examination papers was found unfounded and unwarranted as top officials of the University after holding an inquiry has cleared the staffer (Teacher) from all charges leveled against him. Asking journalists to demonstrate high degree of responsibility the spokesman said that being responsible citizens of the society they must be cautious in publishing such baseless news reports having potential of vitiating the environment of peace and tranquility.
