LAHORE: President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the bright and prosperous future of the region is linked with China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

He was addressing the concluding ceremony of Maritime Security workshop as Chief guest at Pakistan Navy War College in Lahore on Monday.

The topic for the 15-day workshop is “Safe Sea-Prosperous Pakistan”.

Naval Chief Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah was also present on the occasion.

In his welcome address, the College Commandant, Rear Admiral Moazzam Ilyas highlighted the working and performance of the Naval War College, Lahore.

Our Lahore correspondent says the purpose of the workshop to create awareness regarding the sea economy and seas security threats.

The President said that CPEC will help promote land and sea network for accelerating economic activities. He said that Gwadar will become business centre of the region under China Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Mamnoon Hussain said that Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) is playing a vital role in defense of the sea frontiers of the country and the government will provide all resources to strengthen the Agency.

President said that Pakistan Navy is capable to meet all challenges and there is a need to make more resources available for it.

The President pointed out that there are ample opportunities available in Pakistan to generate electricity and work on some mega power projects is underway with assistance of World Bank.
