LAHORE: Skipper Sarfraz Ahmad said on Saturday that the series against Sri Lanka would be a challenge for the team as the visiting side would give Team Pakistan ‘a tough time’.
Speaking at a press conference here at Gaddafi Stadium, the skipper said that the retirement of senior players, Younus Khan and Misbahul Haq, had left a void and the team would miss their presence in the coming tours. “Misbah took the Test team to number one spot and I will try to be shape my captaincy after him,†he added. The captain added that the players and team management were on the same page and chief selector Inzamamul Haq gave importance to his opinions as the skipper of the national team.
“Our only goal is to improve Pakistan’s cricket,†he maintained. The wicket-keeper admitted that players needed improvement and new players should be given a chance. Playing domestic cricket was important for both players in the international team as well as the newcomers. “If we play domestic cricket, new players will be able to learn from us and fresh talent will emerge,†he said.
