ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and his family members have not appeared before Accountability Court (AC) Islamabad and the court has reissued their summons for September 26.
The AC Islamabad led by judge Muhammad Bashir on Tuesday took up for hearing 3 references including Flagship investment, Azizia steel mills and London property filed by NAB against Nawaz Sharif and his family members.
Senator Asif Kirmani appeared before the court. The AC Islamabad while issuing notices on September 13 to Nawaz Sharif his children Hassan Nawaz Hussain Nawaz, Maryam Nawaz and his son in law Capt (Retd) Safdar had summoned them on September 19.
No member of Sharif family appeared before the court on September 19 during the course of hearing. The compliance report on serving summons was filed by NAB in the court.
NAB Prosecutor told the court members of Sharif family have not received the summons. Security officers of Sharif family had said that Hassan and Hussain Nawaz had directed them not to receive any summon. Therefore, prosecutors were not allowed to enter into Jatti Umra and Model Town,
AC judge inquired “ you have handed over summons to whom.
NAB prosecutor told the court he handed over the summons to security personal who was present at the gate.
NAB prosecutor requested that court should issue arrest warrants of members of Sharif family.
The court remarked NAB prosecutor will hand over arrest warrants to guards of Jati Umrah too.
The court while issuing notices for summoning members of Sharif family again on September 26 adjourned the hearing of the case.
Talking to media men after hearing of the references, Senator Asif Kirmani said notices have been received by members of Sharif family. However Hassan and Hussain Nawaz are not residents of Raiwind.
“ I have informed the court Kulsoom Nawaz is ill and Sharif family is there in London for her look after. He will inform those persons for whom court has directed to inform.
