ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah may soon lose his position as leader of the opposition in National Assembly as opposition parties are in talks to replace him with a fiercer opponent, sources told the media on Thursday.

According to the sources, opposition parties other than Shah’s own party (PPP) have almost decided to bring in a new leader of opposition and it could be anyone from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) or the Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed himself.

The development is critical as NAB is hearing cases against the former PM Nawaz Sharif’s family and general elections are just months away. Leader of opposition and prime minister jointly select the interim setup and appoint chairman of the National Accountability Board (NAB).
