Sargodha: The cricket ground at University of Sargodha hosted a T-20 friendly cricket match on Monday with an English amateur team called ‘Wounded Tigers’ led by Peter Oborne, the acclaimed author of the book with the same title on Pakistan’s cricketing history.
The visiting amateur team of cricketers, besides Peter Oborne, was included celebrity writers, academics and actors from US, Ireland England and the United Kingdom. The idea was to tour Pakistan and promote softer image by highlighting the warmth and hospitality of the land in contrast to what people hear about Pakistan most of the time.

The English team was welcomed by the students of UOS, warmly and they supported them for their Nobel cause.The wounded tigers member of the touring party were Peter Oborne, Nicholas Taylor, Kashif Yamin, Richard Asherton, Thomas Gibbas, Alexander Gallahar, Alexander Massie, Farooq Bajwa, Duncan Grehan, Michael French-Davis, Lan Vaughn, Lindsay Codsi, Farhana Yamin, Aliya Yule, Lin Francis, Clive Stafford Smith, Alastair Crawford, Shahzad Akbar.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad received the English players and thanked them to visiting the UOS in a bid to promote the softer image of Pakistan. He said that more events would be arranged in the UOS to promote positive perspective of the country.

While talking to newsmen, Peter Oborne said that they were here after the sincere efforts of VC Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed .He said that our goal is to tell the world that Pakistan is a positive and peaceful country. He thanked people of Sargodha for overwhelming welcome and thanked for their support to the game cricket. Later, Vice Chancellor Distributed prizes among the distinctive players.
