British MP calls for early settlement of Kashmir issues

MIRPUR (AJK): Criticizing Indian move to change the demography of occupied Kashmir, British MP Raja Muhammad Yasin observed that preliminary reports about the malicious act spoke of the India’s deliberate attempts to deprive people of Jammu & Kashmir of their birth right, the right to self determination through altering section 35-A of the article 370 of the Indian constitution, which gives special status to the Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir State.

The British MP Raja Muhammad Yasin said this while speaking at a reception ceremony hosted in his honour by Mirpur District Bar Association here on Tuesday. Yasin was of the view that India wants to change the demographic complexion of the state by settling outsiders and non-state subjects in the region. The opposition Labor Party’s MP Yasin continued that he would raise the issue, besides the importance of early peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue, in the British Parliament to seek amicable solution of the lingering dispute to ensure lasting peace in the region. “It is my moral responsibility, being Kashmir-origin, to highlight the urgency of the settlement of the unresolved dispute not only in the British Parliament but the world over”, the British Kashmiri MP said.
He termed the Indian conspiracy of changing the demography of occupied Kashmir unwarranted, immoral and unlawful and absolutely against the spirits of the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir and state subject Laws of Kashmir. The British MP expressed grave concern over the increased human rights abuses in occupied Jammu & Kashmir by the Indian occupation forces – where the people of launched struggle for the liberation of the motherland from forces and unlawful Indian rule since last 70 years in general and for the last 29 years in particular.

Speaking on the occasion Mirpur District Bar Association President Shabir Shareef Advocate said, “India’s BJP-led extremist government’s designs to change the demography of Muslim majority state of Jammu & Kashmir will be strongly resisted and frustrated and people Jammu & Kashmir will not allow RSS and Bajring Dal to create communal divide in the internationally-acknowledged disputed Himalayan Jammu & Kashmir state”. He said that hardliner Modi led Indian government’s belligerence and antagonistic approach towards people of Jammu Kashmir and Pakistan were threat to the peace in the region. “Indian indiscriminate and unprovoked firing on LOC working boundary has not only caused loss of life and property but a huge mass migration. India has started an undeclared war on the line of control and working boundary”, he added.

“This hostile attitude of India could trigger a full scale war”, he warned. The DBA President said Indian government has stated a process to give state subject rights to the Hindu refugees settled in Indian Occupied Kashmir, this is a dangerous move to change the demography of Jammu Kashmir. The ceremony was largely attended by members of the Bar Association besides the leaders of the legal fraternity of AJK including President AJK Supreme Court Bar Association Syed Nishat Kazmi Advocate, President AJK High Court Bar Association Raja Razaq Ahmed Kashmiri Advocate, Chairman AJK Bar Council Khalid Yousaf Advocate and others.
