Rawalpindi: (Parliament Times) The Punjab Government stopped the payment of salary to over 500 employees of Parks and Horticultural Authority after five persons including Director General were arrested in artificial grass scandal.

The employees are facing severe financial crisis as majority of them have no money to pay even children school fees, house rent and other utility bills. The financial woes of employees are increasing manifold with every passing day as Eid-ul-Azha is falling on 2nd September and they are not able even to provide their children clothes on credit as no shop keeper is ready to give even eatables on credit. .

The salary issue started when the Anti-corruption Establishment arrested five persons including Director General PHA over the scam of Artificial grass. After the scam started to surface on the media, the Punjab Government failed to appoint any head, while the additional charge was handed over to another person. The Punjab Government also stopped payment of the salaries to over 500 PHA employees.

Acting Commissioner Rawalpindi Talat Mahmood Gondal has contacted provincial secretary services and requested him to decide about immediate appointment of new DG or hand over the additional charge of DG to some one else so that disbursement of salaries to employees could be ensured.
