ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected MQM plea for recounting of votes in by polls of Sindh Assembly constituency BS-114.

The ECP while announcing reserved judgement on petition filed by MQM Kamran Taisori seeking recounting of votes due to alleged rigging in by polls in BS-114 has referred the case to Election Tribunal.

With the ECP order, the stay on issuance of a notification about Ghani’s victory in the by-election stands void
Barrister Farogh Nasim, counsel for MQM during the hearing of the case argued that rules and regulations were violated while compiling the results of 21 polling stations in this constituency.

Aitzaz Ahsan counsel for Saeed Ghani argued that no formal complaint was lodged on any irregularity in counting of votes. How could any tempering be made when result were sent to election commission, he added.
