Geneva: Kashmiri representative, Shameem Shawl held a meeting with David Kaye, Special Rapporteur of Freedom of Expression and Opinion, on the sidelines of 35th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva and apprised him of continuous ban on social media and internet ban by the Indian government in occupied Kashmir.

She also briefed him about the gross human rights violations and brutalities committed by Indian forces and demanded that UNHRC should visit occupied Kashmir to monitor current situation prevailing in the territory.

She told him that Kashmir is under military rule and forces are enjoying immunity under the black law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
