Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, the forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly condemned the use of brutal force by Indian police and troops on the civilian population including shopkeepers in Dangerpora, Islamabad, Awantipora and Kulgam areas of South Kashmir.

The forum spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that with every passing moment situation in the occupied territory was touching new low as relentless oppression had been unleashed on people. He deplored that students, businessman and common masses were being thrashed by Indian forces every day just for raising their genuine voices.

The spokesman cautioned that this approach of using brute tactics by the puppet authorities was bound to backfire. He said that time had come for the world community to take cognizance of the plight of the people of the occupied territory and help in ending their sufferings.

Meanwhile, Pellet Victim Association in a statement in Srinagar denounced the indiscriminate pellet firing and teargas shelling by Indian forces on people in Shopian and Kulgam. It said that a PVA team visited various hospitals in Srinagar, inquired about health condition of pellet victims and expressed solidarity with them.

“A large number of people have been hit by pellets and many have lost eyesight due to the pellets,” the statement said. It appealed to the world human rights organizations to come forward and impress upon India to stop the use of pellet guns in occupied Kashmir.
