Srinagar: In occupied Kashmir, people continued to stage forceful anti-India demonstrations in Kulgam, Islamabad and Shopian, today, and Indian forces’ personnel subjected the protesters to brute force, injuring dozens of people, mostly students.
Students of Government Degree College Kulgam held massive demonstrations against the arrest of students inside the college premises. They raised high-pitched anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. Indian police and troops fired pellets and teargas shells to disperse the protesting students. Many students and some journalists sustained injures in the forces’ actions. A video journalist, Tanveer Ahmad Wani, and a student, Amir Fayaz were hit by pellets in their eyes. They were shifted to SMHS hospital in Srinagar.
Severe clashes between protesters and Indian police erupted in main Islamabad town after police personnel fired teargas and PAVA shells to disperse the protesters. The demonstrations were triggered by the arrest of a shopkeeper by Indian police in Dangerpora locality. Later, students also joined the protests. People also held demonstrations in Shopian against the brutalities of occupational troops on civilian population.
Meanwhile, the puppet authorities shifted Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chairperson, Aasiya Andrabi, and her associate, Fehmeeda Sofi, from Srinagar to Amphala jail in Jammu, today. Aasiya Andrabi was moved to the Jammu jail despite her critical health condition. Peaceful protests will be held in the occupied territory, tomorrow, against the slapping of draconian law, Public Safety Act on Aasiya Andrabi and Fehmeeda Sofi by the puppet authorities. Call for the protests has been given by the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq addressing a seminar of students in Srinagar, today, said that the puppet authorities were forcing the Kashmiri students to pick up stones. The seminar was held in connection with the Martyrdom Week being observed to commemorate the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent martyred Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and martyrs of Hawal. Hurriyet leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Wajahat Bashir Qureshi and Jahangir Ghani Butt paid glowing tributes to Molvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Ghani Lone and martyrs of Hawal.
The All Parties Hurriyet Conference, the Mirwaiz-led Hurriyet forum, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and the Jamaat-e-Islami of the occupied territory in their statements in Srinagar strongly condemned the Indian forces’ massive crackdowns in Wokai, Kulgam, and Heff-Shirmal, Shopian. More than 100 persons including women were injured due to the use of force by Indian police and troops during peaceful protests and house to house searches.
