Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Raja Farooq Haider Khan has extended the Prime Minister Community Infrastructure Development Program (PMCIDP) until next fiscal year after achieving satisfactorily results of the Program implemented during 2016-17.
Addressing the AJK Local Government Coordination Council (AJK LGCC) meeting here on Wednesday the Prime Minister directed the Council to evolve strategy for the utilization of funds that would be allocated for the Councilors in upcoming fiscal year after conduction of the local bodies elections in AJK. The AJK LGCC accorded approval for revised projects worth of Rs.150 millions.
Speaking on the occasion the Prime Minister said that elected councilors in upcoming local bodies elections would be provided with sufficient developmental budget so that they could provide facilities to the people at their doorstep saying that the Local Government department should stay on its toes to achieve the already set targets. He said that the present PMCIDP should be completed on time by putting in place an effective monitoring system. ” I myself would monitor the Program,” he said.
He praised the performance of the AJK Local Government Development and congratulated the Secretary and Director General of the Department. He said that PMCIDP would be continued to next fiscal year so that people of the State could be provided with good basic facilities. He said the government has adopted the policy of provision of equal facilities to the people of urban and rural areas so that the life standards of the public be raised and their issues and problems be minimized accordingly.
“To provide the equal facilities to the people of rural areas a strategy had been planned and this policy would be implemented through department of Local Government and other stakeholders,†he added.
Earlier the secretary Local Government Dr. Mahmood ul Hasan briefed the Prime Minister on implementation of PMCIDP and told that 42.5 millions were being spent in each constituency. Chief Secretary Dr.Ejaz Munir, secretary Planning and Development department Khawaja Ahsan,additional secretary Finance Jumma Khan, secretary Local Government Department Raja Dr.Mahmood ul Hasan,director general Local Government department and other officials attended the meeting.
