Faisalabad: Terming promotion of education as top most priority of the incumbent government the Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that significant steps were being taken to strengthen the socio-economic and education sector in the province.
The Punjab Law Minister made these remarks while addressing an inaugural ceremony of newly established Govt. Girls Degree College at Ayub Colony here on Tuesday. The Degree College has been completed at a cost of Rs.110 million. MNA Haji Akram Ansari, Director Colleges Imdadullah, Principal Dr. Saira Khanum, former Director Colleges Rana Munawar Khan, Rana Shehryar Ahmad Khan, Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Councilors of different Union Councils and notables of the areas were present on the occasion.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Punjab Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan said that the establishment of Girls Degree College was one of chain of initiatives which were being taken by the Punjab government aimed at providing opportunities of higher education to the women and their empowerment. He said that promotion of education was the utmost priority of the Punjab Government saying that the development of social and economic sector was not possible without attaining knowledge and education.
He said that revolutionary and concrete steps had been taken by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to overcome the problem of load shedding and menace of terrorism.
He said that the present government was achieving the success and load shedding would be ended in 2018. The Law Minister gave details of the mega projects completed in Faisalabad at a cost of Rs.42 billion which had been inaugurated by the CM Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif during his visit in the last month.
He said that new mega projects had also been announced by the CM Punjab of the same amount including establishment of IT University/Skills Center, Metro Bus Project and up-gradation of Punjab Medical College up to Faisalabad Medical University. He said that clean drinking water was being provided to the big area of the city through the mega Water Supply Project completed at a cost of Rs.6 billion whereas the second phase of Water Supply Project had also been initiated at a cost of Rs14 billion for providing clean drinking water to the whole city of Faisalabad.
He said that new economic era would usher by the mega project of Canal Express Way completed at a cost of Rs.6.6 billion and it was linked with the Motorway that had been brought in the city. He rejected the unjustified criticism of the opponent politicians and said that the conspiracy to stop the development work would not be succeeded.
He assured that more resources would be provided to the Govt. Girls Degree College Ayub Colony and it would be upgraded to Post-graduation level in the near
future. MNA Haji Akram Ansari appreciated the developmental vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and CM Punjab Shehbaz Sharif and told that the funds of Rs. 6 billion had been provided by the CM Punjab for the establishment of new colleges in Faisalabad district during the last four years. Principal Dr. Saira Khanum presented welcome address and thanked Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan for taking keen interest in establishment of Girls Degree College in this area. Director Colleges Imdadullah and Director Rana Munawar Khan also spoke on the occasion. The Law Minister
also distributed prizes among the position holder students in different education and literary competitions.
