Sangla Hill: Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan Affairs, Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir has said people from all faiths and religions had equal rights and should work together to promote interfaith harmony in the country.
Addressing a gathering of Christian Community ahead of the Easter here on Saturday, he said government is making all out efforts to strengthen the bond of brotherhood among the people of different faiths and religions and these efforts are bearing fruits. The ceremony was also addressed by Chairman Municipal Committee, Hassan Shah Nawaz Mallhi and Mian Ejaz Hussain Bhatti.
The Minister said being citizen of the country all are equal in terms of their rights and privileges irrespective of their creed, religion or faith.
He said that Christian Community along with Muslims had played an important role in the freedom movement of Pakistan under the leadership of Quaid Azam and added that Pakistan could not be achieved without support of the Christian community. He said that Muslim League, a party founded by Quaid Azam will continue to follow the footsteps of the Quaid by taking steps for the welfare of Christian Community.
He said that Pakistan Muslim League under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif striving hard to make Pakistan developed and prosperous country where all citizens of the country could enjoy equal rights without any discrimination. He said that party government not only developed the country but also successfully overcome the challenge of terrorism and religious extremism in short span of time.
Chaudhry Barjees Tahir said struggle to purge the country of the menace of terrorism, religious hatred and extremism will continue and there would be no compromise on this issue. He said Pakistani nation had lost 80,000 precious lives at the hands of terrorists but our resolve to weed out the evil of terrorism is still strong and unflinching. He urged all the religious communities of the country to defeat the haterd and prejudices by spreading love and brotherhood.
