ISLAMABAD: (Parliament Times) The Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif, on Thursday, said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its related projects symbolise the people-centric approach of the two countries and their resolve for regional connectivity.

“The CPEC project will encourage regional trade and connectivity. Hundreds of thousands of people will benefit from it,” the premier remarked.

He said this while talking to a high-level Chinese delegation headed by the Chairman of National Committee of Chinese Peoples’ Political Consultative Conference Yu Zhengsheng in Islamabad.

“Close cooperation between the two parliaments will serve to further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries,” the PM said.

Sharif said that the “Belt and Road Forum” to be held in China next month would provide an excellent opportunity to explore important areas such as connectivity, infrastructure, trade, finance, people-to-people exchanges, and think-tanks’ cooperation between Pakistan, China and the global community.

“We are thankful to the PM for extending a warm welcome during our visit to Pakistan,” Zhengsheng said. “The parliamentary visit will further strengthen the brotherly relations between the two countries.”
