Sargodha: The youth of Pakistan should adopt such a thinking and behavior that not only glorifies the country but also provides ultimate solutions to the ever-increasing problems faced by the nation. The Govt. of the Punjab along with the Govt. of Pakistan is taking measures to ensure quality education which not only enlightens the young minds but also makes them creative leading them to constructivism. Such steps will help in bringing the county stand at par with the advanced nations of the world. This was stated by the Governor of the Punjab Mr Muhammad Rafique Rajwana. While appreciating the efforts of the Vice Chancellor University of Sargodha Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad, the governor was all praise. He said that the visionary leadership of the Vice Chancellor will lead the University flourish by leaps and bounds. He was addressing the audience at the 5thConvocation of University of Sargodha as Guest of Honour. He was of the opinion that universities are not meant to produce degree holders but capable personnel ready to play their active part in the development of the nation. Universities are a place where future generation is guided, nurtured and goaded to glorious paths of prosperity and progress. He opined that the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is doing marvels. CPEC is one such example which will prove game changer in the region. Vice Chancellor Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmad said that he was committed to transform UOS into one of the top universities of Pakistan. He said that the teaching staff of UOS is endowed with extraordinary potentials and skills and through their sheer commitment; they can bring revolutionary changes in the realms of education in Pakistan. The VC told the Governor that UOS is like a beautiful and well organized island in the universe of education, which has never been polluted by law and order and it is marching to its evolutionary road of betterment. The VC, while addressing the students, said that they should contribute in the respective field to solve any fundamental issue faced by the nation. Earlier in the convocation, the Chancellor and the Governor gave away the medals and cash prizes among the position holders of the Annual and Semester System Exams for the year 2013. The distinctive feature of the convocation was the participation of the Lord Mayor of Oxford Muhammad
Altaf Khan and Chairman Higher Education Commission Dr Nizam ud Din which was greatly celebrated by the students of the University. Registrar UOS Mr Mudassar Kamran performed the duty as Stage Secretary.
Gold, silver and bronze Meadals were given away in the 5th Convocation of University of Sargodha to the position holders of the Annual and Semester System Exams for the year 2013. Cash prizes worth Rs 30000, 20000 and 10000 were awarded to the first second and third position holders respectively. The parents and the students along with the public appreciated the organization of the convocation to acknowledge the efforts of the students. 43696 students were awarded their degrees in their respective programs, out of which 43 were PhD and 400 MPhils.
