MIRPUR: Pakistan has emerged the country of great significance and importance among the comity nations following rapid development and progress in all spheres of life in the country.
This was observed by the speakers including Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman – Sitara e Imtiaz, Vice Chancellor of the state-run Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST), Lt. Col. Ayad Hassan, Commanding Officer of Special Communications Organisation Mirpur division and others while speaking at a keenly-contested essay writing – competition among among 150  students of the universities and colleges of the twin districts of Mirpur and Kotli AJK – including  the MUST varsity to mark 78th Pakistan Day celebrations at the MUST Campus here late Thursday. The competition was jointly held by the MUST and the SCO, the institution running the telecommunication sector in AJK and Gilgit / Baltistan.
The largely attended ceremony was also addressed among others by Registrar Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) Mirpur Engr. Prof. Muhammad Waris Jiraal, Dean Sciences Prof. Dr. Rehana Asghar, Dean Engineering Prof. Dr. Riaz Mughal, Director Students Affairs Prof. Shahid Amin and others.
The ceremony was attended among others by the students, members of the faculty, officials of MUST and the SCO including Maj. Jabraan Daanish, Capt. Adnan Sharif,  PRO SCO Jehangir Shehzad, Prof. Ch. Muhammad Khaleeque, Public Relations official from  MUST Murtaza Mahmood Raja, besides various academic staff  members of the educational institutions of Mirpur and Kotli districts – besides  the notables.
The colorful event was following by national flag hosting ceremony at the lawns of the Varsity campus. The jubilant students presented national anthems of Pakistan and AJK besides singing the national songs to express their heartiest feelings to mark the national day of great significance in the history of Pakistan movement besides paying rich tributes to father of the nation – Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his associated for their life time services for the cause of emergence of separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub continent – the Pakistan.
Speaking on this occasion, the VC MUST  Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman Sitara –e-Imtiaz said that March 23, 1940 is the day of exceptional significance in the history of Pakistan  when the Muslims of the Sub continent, passed historical Pakistan Day resolution unanimously seeking   the establishment  of separate homeland for the Muslim Ummah of the region under the dynamic leadership of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said that this historical Pakistan Day Resolution was translated in to reality when Pakistan emerged seven years and five months after this resolution on August 14, 1947.
Prof. Dr. Habib ur Rehman continued that Pakistan was being acknowledge as a country of exceptional importance in the comity of nations. He underlined that this could be assessed through the fact that the trust and confidence of the international community in to Pakistan has raised with the passage of time following its fast-paced progress and prosperity in all walks of life of the nation.  He pointed out that every friendly country was seeking to enter in the gigantic CPEC, (China Pakistan Economic Corridor) project of speedy economic progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
The Vice Chancellor advised the young generation including the students to follow the foot prints of the national heroes who, under the dynamic  and able leadership of Quaid-e-Azam, succeeded in establishing the separate homeland of the Muslims of the sub continent with untiring efforts by facing great hardships. Dr. Habib ur Rehman said that the celebration of Pakistan Day with the collaboration of Pakistan Army-run Special Communications Organization, with traditional zeal and fervor, through hosting the essay writing competition on the topic of  Pakistan movement,  has further raised the image of the Mirpur University of Science & Technology besides the SCO, he added.
Addressing the ceremony Commanding Officer SCO Mirpur Division Lt. Col. Syed Ayad Hassan said that the great and meritorious services of  the national heroes of Pakistan are the beacon light for the youth for the speedy progress and prosperity of the country in line with the needs of the modern age.
The SCO’s divisional chief highlighted the broad based development program inked and implemented by his organization to furnish the masses with the latest means of telecommunications harmonious to the needs of the modern era.
The Vice Chancellor  MUST and the Commanding Officer SCO gave away cash  prizes and certificates of appreciation to top-ten positions holding boy and girl students of the MUST besides other participating educational institutions. The highest Rs. 10 thousand award was won by Ahsan Shiraz Kiyani, student of MUST and the second cash prize of Rs. 5 thousand went to Ms. Kiran Latif, student of Govt. Post Graduate College Mirpur
