Muzaffarabad: A Snow Jeep Rally has begun to promote tourism and introduce the tourism corridor route here on Friday. The three day Jeep Rally organized by Jeep Club in collaboration with Tourism Department of AJK Government was started from Supreme Court Chowk and will conclude at Ganga Choti in Bagh District after travelling through Jehlum Valley Road, Chakar and Sudhan Gali. Addressing at the inaugural ceremony, Secretary Tourism and Information Mansoor Qadir Dar said AJK has great tourism potential. He said that AJK can generate significant revenue besides creating job opportunities in private sector. Describing AJK as most favourit tourist destination because of its natural beautiful and most hospitable climate, the secretary said AJK government has formulated a comprehensive plan to promote the tourism industry in the state. He said that Jehlum Valley to Bagh and Rawalakot Tourism Corridor is part of our plan. He said that a road of international standard will be constructed from Sudhan Gali to Ganga Choti with all requisite facilities besides constructing rest houses at different spots to facilitate the tourists. He appreciated the Jeep Club for laying the foundation stone to introduce Tourism Corridor by organizing the Jeep rally. The purpose of this rally, he said is to attract the domestic and international tourists towards worth seeing places in AJK ahead of tourists season. He said that introduction of new tourists destinations within AJK will also help lessen the pressure on Neelum Valley where tens of thousands of tourists visit every year in summer.
The Secretary said construction of roads under Tourism Corridor has already been approved and government is planning to initiate various tourism related projects in partnership with private sector.
