Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while addressing a press conference in Lahore on Friday, claimed that the suspects allegedly responsible for planning and carrying out suicide attack in Lahore belong to Afghanistan.

The Punjab chief minister also announced the arrest of an alleged facilitator and went on to say that he belonged to Bajaur Agency.

On Monday 13 people were killed and 85 were injured when a suicide blast shook Mall Road.

Sharif also voiced strong support for establishing military courts in the country, saying a lot of credit for curbing terrorism successfully in Pakistan goes to them.

“PML-N government fully supports extending the tenure of military courts,” he said, adding that it was “because of the fear of punishment that terror factions were hesitant before attacking”.

Shahbaz Sharif also urged the Afghan residents residing in Pakistan to call out any person they find suspicious.

Punjab Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah had on Tuesday said there was more than one attacker involved in the suicide bombing on Mall Road.

Rana Sanaullah had said, “Of the two men seen walking from the Punjab High Court towards Mall road, one seems to be 30 to 35 years of age and may be the handler. The other individual seems to be between the ages of 15 and 17 and may have been the suicide bomber.”
