Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed on Sunday throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) with a renewed pledge to relentlessly continue support to the people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir till they achieve their freedom from Indian occupation.
The day was dawn with special prayers for the martyrs of Kashmir, early success of the freedom movement and solidarity and integrity of Pakistan.
Human Chains were formed at Kohala, BararKot, Azad Pattan, Mangla, Holar and other points linking Azad Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan. In Muzaffarabad, the main event of the day was the joint session of AJK Legislative Assembly and Azad Jammu and Kashmir Council.
Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan has named a main Chowk located in Old Secretariat area of the city after the name of legendary young hero of Kashmir freedom movement Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani. The Prime Minister also led a public rally taken out from Chatter in the afternoon. Speaker Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir,ministers Raja Nisar Ahmed Khan,Mushtaq Minhas,Barrister Iftikhar Gillani ,Syed Shaukat Shah,Noreen Arif,Sardar Farooq Sakandir,Ch Muhammad Aziz and MLA Nasir Dar also participated in the rally.
While addressing the public rally Prime Minister Raza Farooq Haider expressed his gratitude to the government and people of Pakistan for their continued support to the Kashmiris’ struggle for securing their right to self-determination.
He said that for the last seven decades, India has been denying the legitimate and democratic demand for right to self-determination promised to them by the international community through numerous UN Security Council Resolutions. He called upon the international community to raise its voice in seeking an end to the gross violations of human rights and the reign of terror unleashed by Indian occupation forces in held Kashmir and fulfill the promises it made with the people of Jammu and Kashmir 70 years ago.
In Mirpur, Azad Kashmir rallies were taken out and seminars and Kashmir Solidarity Conference are being held to express complete unity and solidarity with the people of Jammu & Kashmir in their just struggle for right to self determination.
People representing all walks of life including political, social and human rights organizations joined hands on Mangla Bridge connecting Pakistan with AJK via Mirpur to express solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
A large number of people from Punjab province led by the MNA Chaudhry Khadim Hussain belonging to the PML (N) reached at Mangla bridge and made human chain to express solidarity with the people of AJK. The speakers while addressing Kashmir Solidarity Day Rally at Mangla Bridge asked the world community to exert pressure on India for peaceful settlement of lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN Resolutions and wishes of Kashmiri people.
Similar rallies, processions and public meetings were held at Hasttian balla, Chinari, Chakothi, Authmaqam, Sharda, Bagh, Dheerkot, Rawalakot, Abbaspur, Khutta, Palandari and other parts of Azad Kashmir. Addressing the solidarity programs speakers demanded immediate resolution of Kashmir issue under relevant UNSC resolutions and in line with the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They assured the struggling people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir that they are not alone in their struggle as entire Pakistan nation and people and government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is with them at this critical phase of their struggle.
