Islamabad: (Parliament Times) AJK President Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan has said Pakistan’s economy is swiftly growing after defeating the terrorists and extremists groups in the country. He was talking to a group of youths visiting Pakistan from seven different countries of the world on the invitation of British Pakistan and CDPR. The youth delegation headed by Program Head of British Council Zinia Faraz, Program Director Malik Wasim, Executive Director CDPR, Irshad Mahmood and Program Director Dr Waqas Ali called on AJK President at Kashmir House on Saturday.
AJK President appreciated the British Council’s efforts for launching International Youth Visitor Leadership Program and expressed his hope that the program will significantly help the youth of other countries to understand Pakistan and its achievements in recent past. He said that with the revolution of information technology and emergence of new media, youths from different countries have become global citizens, they are frequently interacting with each others, establishing networks and collaboration and gaining insights and self-awareness about the different countries and cultures. He advised the youth leaders to actively participate in international policy making as dynamic global citizen. He said that young leaders can influence the policies like climate change, nuclear proliferation and regional and global peace
He said youth should work together for alleviation of poverty, elimination ethnic prejudices, extremism and for progress, prosperity, equality, justice and right to self determination to the oppressed and enslaved nations. Briefing the youth delegation about Kashmir, he unresolved Kashmir dispute is the biggest challenge for South Asian region. People of Jammu and Kashmir are demanding their democratic right to self determination and India is responding them with guns and bullets. Earlier prominent social and political figure Abdullah Gul and defence analyst Air Martial (retd) farhat Hussain called on president and discussed different issues relating to Kashmir and security of the country.
