KARACHI : Waseem Akhtar, Mayor of Karachi has expressed lack of confidence on Wednesday over performance of Solid Waste Management Board.

Reportedly, around 35.040 million tonne waste accumulated in Karachi in the past eight years and not even half of that was disposed of properly.

The mayor said that machinery and funds are needed to clear Karachi of garbage. Waseem Akhtar said that he was not seeing agreement of the board with Chinese company to clear dumps in two districts, realising into reality.

He said that recommendations to clear garbage in the metropolis were forwarded to the Government of Sindh which are yet to be approved or discussed.
