Muzaffarabad: (Parliament Times) The Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K) set aside the verdict of AJK High court and exonerated Sardar Ghulam Sadiq Khan former Speaker Legislative Assembly from the allegations, leveled by his political opponent Sardar Bahadur Khan during the general Election Campaign in AJK.
The Azad Jammu & Kashmir High Court on July 18 last year disqualified Sardar Ghulam Sadiq, then Speaker of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, from contesting scheduled July 21, AJK General Elections, on the charges of misusing powers and drawing double salary from the public exchequer against two official positions simultaneously. His qualification was challenged by PML-N leader Sardar Khan Bhadar Khan who got elected member of AJK Assembly by defeating Sardar Ghulam Sadiq Khan.
On July 18, the high court had declared that Mr Sadiq was not qualified at the time of filing his nomination papers by virtue of Section 24(2)(f) of the AJK Interim Constitution Act, 1974 read with Section 5(1)(f) of the AJK Legislative Assembly (Election) 1970.
Mr Sadiq filed an appeal in Azad Jammu and Kashmir Supreme Court against the decision of High Court and Supreme Court held order of the High Court in abeyance the decision of the High Court granted him interim relief allowing him to contest elections.
Ex- Prime Ministers of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf , Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah, Ex- Chairman Senate Nayyer Bukhari, Nawab Yusuf Talpur,  Senator Farhatullah Babar, Peoples Party Punjab President Qamar uz Zaman Kaira, Secretary General Nadeem Afzal Chann, Secretary Information Ghulam Mustafa Khokhar congratulated Sardar Ghulam Sadiq.
The honourable Supreme Court has also allowed the Sardar Ghulam Sdiq Khan to contest election in future for any public office / post.  On this judgment, the people of his native area expressed their pleasure and declared it very positive sign from the apex Court.
On this occasion while addressing the people of his constituency Ghulam Sadiq Khan said he is thankful to Almighty Allah and appreciated the supporters and Party.
