Mirpur: (Parliament Times)  Pakistan United Christian Movement (PUCM), the sole major representative body of the Christian fraternity in the country including AJK, has welcomed the bill to form a commission to protect the rights of minorities by the Sindh Assembly, the organization officially declared.

“PUCM called this to be a major step towards the implementation of the landmark judgment of Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, former Chief Justice of Pakistan”, said A David, Chairman PUCM.

Talking to this Correspondent on Sunday, David said “though we welcome and congratulate the Sindh assembly on passing this Act however it will be highly appreciated if the Act is implemented in letter and spirit, yet  the Government must ensure capacity building and awareness raising of the concerned officials, especially the law enforcement personal and judicial officers to ensure effective implementation of the Act, he added.

David urged that the Federal Government and other provincial governments should follow the footsteps of Sindh assembly and take initiatives to implement the recommendations of Justice Jillani’s judgment.

“It is time that minorities are ensured protection and included in the socio-economic and political process, he said and suggested that all possible measures should be taken to promote an inclusive democracy that gives equal opportunities to marginalized sections of the society to take a vibrant and visible role in the democratic process, David added.
