Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned Chief of Evacuee trust on plea seeking allocation of land for funeral rites of Hindus.LHC took up the case for hearing on Wednesday.During the course of hearing, petitioner Ishtiaq Chaudhry took the plea that there is no proper space for offering funeral rites of Hindus adding due to lack of Shamshan Ghatt Hindus are facing difficulties in performing their funeral rituals.
Court observed that protection of minority’s rights is the responsibility of the state.
Petitioner prayed court that land should be provided for r construction of Shamshan Ghatt by Hidus so that they could perform their funeral rites.
Court while adjourning the hearing of the case till Sep 26 summoned Chief Evacuee trust on next hearing.
