Rawalpindi: In order to cope with complex issue of parking of vehicles in the city, decision has been taken to construct 10 big multi- storey “Parking towers” on the basis of public and private partnership .
According to media reports, these parking towers will be made on the design of parking towers constructed on jail road Lahore.
Out of these 10 multi-storey parking towers, 2 parking towers will be constructed in Raja Bazaar, 2 in commercial market, one in committee Chowk, college road, Syed Pur Road, Murair Chowk, Iqbal road, and circular road each.
Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) will mark land on these places for construction of parking towers within 2 weeks.
Chairman RDA Arif Abbasi said that these towers will be constructed with private partnership.
Negotiations’ with investors and good firms have been started after that multi-storey towers will be built on one, one and a half, and 2 Kanal acre lands.
Investors will receive fee of these commercial parking towers for 10 years.
RDA will be entitled to receive only 10 to 15 pc of this fee.
After 10 years, these parking towers will come in the possession of RDA completely while land will remain government property.
