Islamabad: Prime Minister Azad Jammu and Kashmir (PM AJK) Raja Mohammad Farooq Haider Khan has said that a stable, strong and economically prosperous Pakistan can better plead the Kashmir cause at international level.
Prime Minister expressed his views while addressing senior journalists of National Press Club here on Thursday. President PFUJ Afzal Butt, newly elected President NPC Tariq Mehmood Chaudhary, Secretary General Shakeel Anjum, Senior Vice President Asif Bashir Chaudhary, Senior Joint Secretary Abid Abbasi, Secretary Finance Nosheen Yousuf and a large number of journalists present on the occasion accorded a warm welcome to the AJK PM Prime Minister upon his arrival at National Press Club.
Prime Minister in his speech stated that Kashmiri consider Pakistan as their final destination. “Journalist community’s role in highlighting the Kashmir issue is highly remarkable”, he said adding that the print and electronic media must fulfill their responsibilities on Kashmir issue and generate space for Kashmir and Azad Kashmir in News and Current Affairs programs. “The incumbent Government of Azad Kashmir will utilize all available resources to ensure press freedom and welfare of the journalists”, the Prime Minister maintained.
Referring to prevailing political and human rights situation in Indian held territory of Jammu and Kashmir the Prime Minister said, “Indian Occupation forces are brutally killing innocent people in IoK besides violating ceasefire Line of Control”. About the various challenges faced by Pakistan he said, “It is the sole responsibility of electronic and print media to identify and highlight the threats to Pakistan’s national security besides boosting up the morale of the nation.”
Prime Minister stated that Kashmiris had given a clear message to the world by adopting a historic resolution on July 19, 1947 calling for state’s accession to Pakistan, “Our love for Pakistan is beyond any doubt, Pakistan is our country, and we feel very uncomfortable when some elements try to weaken the country for their own petty interests”, Prime Minister added.
The Prime Minister said that the Kashmiris have rendered great sacrifices for Pakistan and are still ready to lay down their precious lives for the protection of Pakistan. On the occasion, Prime Minister Raja Mohammad Farooq Haider Khan congratulated newly elected office bearers of the National Press Club saying that the NPC has played a vital role in securing freedom of press in the country. Meanwhile, newly elected President and the NPC office bearers thanked Prime Minister for his visit to National Press Club.
