Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet important meeting is being held today Wednesday which would detail review the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) recommendation of putting the names of Sharif family on Exit Control List (ECL). Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will chair the meeting.
Sources stated that federal cabinet would also likely to give approval of new policy regarding placing and removing the name from ECL.
Sources said that Federal Minister for Interior Ahsan Iqbal has categorically rejected the ECL policy of former Federal Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan and also sought powers for secretary of interior in this regard.
The NAB has written several letters to ministry of interior and requested to put the names of Sharif families including Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt. retd Muhammad Safdar on ECL.
Now after mounting pressures the Interior Minister decided to bring this matter in Federal cabinet. Sources further disclosed that Ahsan Iqbal has also sought power of putting the name anyone on ECL as he stated that power of placing and removing name of anyone from ECL should be in hand of ministry or interior secretary.
On the other hand officials of Energy ministry would inform the meeting that complete eradication of electricity not possible in the upcoming summer season. Sources stated that officials would also give the timeframe of load-shedding as country rural areas would likely to face 8 hours and urban areas to face 4 to 6 hour load-shedding during summer season.
It was worth mentioned here that federal government is reluctant to place the names of Sharif family members on the ECL as recommended by the NAB, despite having discretionary powers to give relaxation to any person whose name has been placed on the no-fly list.
