ISLAMABAD: PML-N MNA Khawaja Asif has said dams matter should not held hostage to politics.
He said this while speaking in National Assembly (NA) session Tuesday. He held collecting donations is an appreciable step. If a sum of Rs 2 to 4 billion is collected then it is a good omen.
The information minister Fawad Chaudhry and opposition parliamentarians lauded his views by clapping hands.
He pointed out all the four provinces had signed water policy in April 2018. Consensus have been reached on Bhasha, Mohmand dam in water policy. No mention is made of any other dam in water policy.
He informed that Rs 150 billion have been spent on Bhasha dam. Out of it Rs 122 billion have been spent on acquisition of land for this dam. It will be constructed within timeframe of 9 years.
He said a policy has already been devised on dam and it should not been made controversial.
He underscored “ we have to save water. Water is wasted in sea.
We will have to become habitual of conserving water. Collecting donation is laudable act. It will create realization among the nation, he added.
He observed “ water issue is not political. This is matter of 220 million people. We have to save water and we will have to create awareness on the matter of saving water.
