Rawalpindi: Decision has been taken to disconnect power supply to 425 tube wells in the upcoming week due to non payment of outstanding electricity bills of Rs 30 million by Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO).
According to media reports, WASA was to pay arrears of 190 million to IESCO after increase of Rs 30 million but due to financial crisis it failed to pay these arrears despite issuance of notice.
Therefore decision has been taken to disconnect supply to 425 tube wells.
Teams have been constituted already in this regard and connections will be restored step wise.
On the other hand, WASA officials said that they had sent a letter to provincial officials for bailout package of Rs 250 million.
